Coastal canoeing ”Little Alaska”

Self guided 4 day adventure in the inner parts of The Koster Sea.

 

Most people think of kayaking when it comes to a vessel on the ocean but if you chose the area carefully the archipelago in West Sweden is a stunning area even for coastal canoeing.

We have chosen a very special area for this self guided canoeing trip - a place we personally love and call ”Little Alaska” as it reminds of remote areas of North America. The area offers a lot of islands, beaches,  drift wood and forest so don’t forget you hammock.

 

Canoes have been used by several native cultures in different versions all over the world for thousands of years.

Canoeing awakes feelings of harmony and pristine ways of connecting with nature.  The area offer very cosy campsites and scenery mixed with a coastal touch. The route will take you along small harbours and especially the cafe at Rossö is worth a coffee break. By the end of the trip we’ll pick you up and drive you back to the kayak center - no need to paddle the same way back.

 

 

Wild camping, glamping or cottages? 

How you want to accommodate yourself is up to you. There are several options to chose from. The right of public access allows you to practice wild camping so why not rent a camping kit or bring your hammock.  The route also passes through indoor options as ”Bofors Camping” with cottages or ”Lagunen camping” south of Strömstad. At Lagunen you can book either Glamping tents close to the beach, wooden camps or holiday cottages. 

The place also offer a sauna by the ocean - enjoy!

Prior experience and route choice:

As always we recommend some prior experience from either canoeing or kayaking and practical navigation skills but it’s not mandatory.

If you want to have a safe and solid start we offer private lessons before departure to add extra safety and mental comfort to this adventure. 

Included in the package is detailed maps with safe routes choices  that we ask you to stick to for safety reasons.

-Technical -and safety instructions on land as well as detailed route maps with marked campsites that you’ll have the opportunity to sit down and discuss with our guides before the trip starts.

 

-Fully equipped 16 fot canoe from either North American or Canadien brands. The canoes we use are made from T- Formex  a solid and light weight material.

 

- Daily weather forecasts by text message and the opportunity to get route recommendation from our guides for extra support.

- Pick up service by the end of the trip and a short drive to the start is also included. Together we chose the best sport for the start according to the weather forecast and wind direction for the coming days.
